Arrow Balearia Ferries - company profile and ships

Balearia started operating in July 1998, set up by a group of executives, captains and officials from the former shipping company Flebasa; Adolfo Utor was named president of the new company. From the very beginning, the shipping company outlined an extensive action and modernisation plan for the fleet, with a very clear commitment to the latest generation of high speed ships.

Balearia’s pledge to provide its customers with maximum comfort in the shortest possible time started in July 2001, incorporating the super fast ferry Federico Garcia Lorca into its fleet. This ship represented a revolution in maritime transport to and among the Balearic Islands, linking the islands to mainland Spain in only two hours. This revolution has been consolidated thanks to important investments in the most innovative and competitive naval technology and effective strategies, which have permitted the fleet to continually expand and progressively open new lines.

For Balearia it is fundamental to act as a bridge between the Balearic Islands and mainland Spain representing a commitment with the islands which has implied opening new lines and incorporating new ships until attaining its current position as the only shipping company which joins all four Balearic Islands with mainland Spain, as well as providing daily links between them. Balearia’s services meet both tourist requirements and the needs of the island residents who, thanks to Balearia, see the boat as a comfortable, reliable and competitive means of transport, both for travelling between islands and for trips to mainland Spain.

Balearia’s clientele values the regularity and punctuality of its services, a timetable which adapts to their needs, good quality service at the best price, comfort during the crossing, the real time between city centres and the possibility of travelling in your own car. All this, along with the quality, frequency and competitivity of Balearia services for the lines it manages have made the shipping company leaders in Balearic maritime transport, both for inter-island services and connections to mainland Spain. In 2006 Balearia managed transport for more than 2 million p***engers, more than half the people travelling by boat to the Balearics chose Balearia, with a turnover of almost 150 million euros and its activity increased almost 50% on the previous exercise.
